Greetings from sunny New Orleans where we've had droves of admitted students visiting campus making their final decisions and submitting deposits to join the class of 2020 over the last few days.
April also means it's time to continue conversations with our current high school juniors, the future class of 2021. Last month I posted my tips for you all and today, we have big news for you: Tulane will be adding an Early Decision option starting with this incoming applicant pool.
Here's how it will look:
Early Decision: The deadline will be November 1st and we'll get a final decision to you by December 15th. It will be a binding decision and will be the perfect option for you die hard Tulaneians.
Early Action: The deadline will be November 15th and we'll have a final decision to you by December 20th. If you know Tulane is high on your list and want to get an early admission decision from us, this is a great option for you. It will of course be non-binding.
We're no longer going to offer the Single Choice Early Action plan. If you ask me, in some ways SCEA can be more restrictive than Early Decision as it doesn't allow you to apply to other schools early. It was a good decision plan for Tulane for a while, but now we think ED is a better fit for us an institution.
I did read the op-ed in the Washington Post last week about the challenges that ED can pose on schools and students and who oftentimes comes out on top. I don't anticipate that we'll fill up the majority of the class with ED admits by any means. Tulane will continue to have a large Early Action pool that will always be non-binding. We just want to make sure our students have options.
If you have any questions, let your admission officer know!
